Before discussing this article, what is crimping? Crimping is the process by which a network cable is processed to become a complete or perfect network cable, or in short crimping is a way to make a network cable. We will crimp the UTP cable using an RJ-45 connector so that it can be used to connect computer hardware.Well, before we start, the materials that must be prepared are UTP cable, RJ-45 connector, and crimping pliers and if it's better if you have a Lan Tester to test the cable, if not, you can still use other methods.
Crimping Process
UTP cable consists of 2 types, namely Straight and Cross, straight cable is used to connect two different hardware such as connecting a PC to a Switch / Hub, and Cross cable is used to connect two pieces of the same hardware such as from PC to PC, Laptop to Laptop .
To make a Straight cable, the colors used are:
The composition of colors at the end of 1 = White Orange, Orange, White Green, Blue, White Blue, Green, White Brown, Brown.
The composition of the colors on the 2 nipples is equal to the tip.
To make a Cross cable, the colors used are:
Color arrangement at end 1 = White Orange, Orange, White Green, Blue, White Blue, Green, White Brown, Brown.
The composition of colors at the end of 2 namely = White Green, Green, White Orange, Blue, White Blue, Orange, White Brown, Brown.
So that you are sure that installing the cable to the connector is ok it's better if you also have a cable tester like the following. The difference between the two testers below is that one uses one led for one pair while the other uses one led for one cable. For beginners it's easier to use the type one led per cable because you won't be confused. Then the smaller tester is a remote cable tester that is used if the cable in the test is long and the two ends are not close together (for example there is a different room). How to use it is to install one end of the cable to the TX in a large cable tester then set auto, then at the other end we install the remote cable tester. After that, you only need to see the remote cable tester. If it is on, it means that the cable is connected properly while if dead means the cable is disconnected.
Before crimping we prepare the ingredients first, namely:
Crimping steps :
Prepare the UTP cable to be used. Then cut the other end of the UTP cable using Crimping Pliers. Then set the UTP cable into a Straight or Cross type. This straight type is usually used to connect network computers that use a hub or client to a hub. For this type of Cross is usually used to connect directly between two PCs or between hubs. for those who don't know about the Straight and Cross type sequences, below. After the UTP cable has been arranged according to the type to be used, then insert the UTP cable into the Rj-45 connector. Then after the cable is finished, the UTP cable crimping that has been equipped with Rj-45 connector is into the crimping pliers.
Then after that test the UTP cable to the LAN Tester. Good luck!See you in the next article, Don't forget to share, like, it's free hhhaa ..
