In dealing with a refrigerator that is not cold, it would be easier if we already know the cause. Because then we will know what needs to be checked first so that we are not the wrong step in acting. Therefore, please read my first post titled Cause Not Cold Refrigerator. In addition to making it easier for you, of course, it will also add to your insight about the turning point of why refrigerators aren't cold.
also besides, the thing that is no less important is to know the symptoms as to what makes the refrigerator not cold. So the writing that explains how to fix the refrigerator is not cold this time is based on the symptoms. These symptoms include:
- The fridge suddenly died and was not cold.
- The compressor engine is dead and won't start again.
- The refrigerator does not cool after cleaning.
That way, the reader can choose which guide would be per the problem being faced. I need to remind you, this guide can be applied to refrigerators either in one or two-door models. And if you are in doubt, you should try asking before acting, or call an experienced technician directly. Fine, if you are interested in following the guidelines on how to repair a non-cold refrigerator, please refer to the following steps.
Repair the refrigerator that suddenly turns off and does not cool
1. Check the Power Supply cable and Relay
The first thing to check is the Power Supply cable. Make sure the cable is not broken, and so is the Relay section. We can use Multitester to ensure that the cable or relay is still connected between one end and the other end.
If it turns out the cable is broken, please connect using solation. Similarly, if this happens to a Relay, please replace the Relay with a new one. If so, please plug the refrigerator power cable into electricity. If the compressor engine still won't start, we continue to the next step.
2. Check the Overload Component
This overload has a function to prevent overheating or overheating on the compressor engine. So, the bimetallic overload is broken, porous or not a little is burned, the machine automatically cannot start. The easiest way to identify the overload is still good or not by looking at the conditions.
If it is porous or there are burn marks, the overload has likely been damaged. To be more certain, please just replace it with a new one.
3. Check the Thermostat or Automatic Timer
After checking that both cables, relays, and overloads are all good, but the engine is still dead, now try checking the thermostat. This tool is located inside the refrigerator.
To check it, use a multitester with a range position at oHm (Ω). Then connect the cable to the multitester with the two thermostat sockets, while the knobs are turned clockwise.
If there is a meaningful relationship if there is no opposite meaning. If you find out that the thermostat is the problem, please replace a new one.
And for the 2 door model refrigerator, there is one more that needs to be checked, which is an automatic timer. It is located at the bottom of the refrigerator, there is also behind the refrigerator near the compressor engine.
To make sure the timer is still good or not, please turn right until you hear "tick" twice. To be clearer, please read the automatic timer function on the 2 door refrigerator.
These three components need to be checked if the refrigerator engine suddenly dies. And if everything is in normal condition but the engine still won't start, it likely is because the compressor is dead. To be more certain, please check in the following way.
How to check the refrigerator compressor is still good or not
- Prepare a multitester with a position in the range of oHm (Ω).
- Connect the socket on the compressor with the compressor body using the multitester cable.
- Finally, look at the multitester screen, if the needle does not indicate a connection, it means good. and if there is a connection, it means that the compressor has contacted the body in other words it has been short-circuited.
If the refrigerator compressor often dies, it will turn itself off, even though we have set it to the lowest temperature
We can also check the condition by looking at the compressor's ampere value. The average amperage value of a normal refrigerator compressor is between 0.5 A to 1 A. Of course, it also depends on the size of the compressor as well.
If damage has occurred to the compressor engine, it cannot be repaired again. It can, but it most likely won't last long. So many of the technicians suggest replacing them with new or used ones, but still have good performance.
Repair the refrigerator not cold after cleaning
When cleaning frost, we usually turn the thermostat knob on or off. and when it's finished, we often forget to return the Thermostat settings to their original position.
Of course, the consequence is the refrigerator is not cold or even cold because the compressor does not want to start. Therefore, make sure in advance that the Thermostat settings are correct.
Refrigerators that don't cool after cleaning can also be due to the user's fault. One of them is cleaning frost using sharp objects.
As a result, the Evaporator is stabbed, causing a Freon leak. To fix it, of course, we have to patch the leak using special glue, then fill in the freon from ZERO again.
Those are some ways to fix the refrigerator is not cold based on the usual symptoms. Even so, it does not rule out the possibility that symptoms other than those I have stated above also occur in the field.
So, if this is a problem that you are facing, please ask via the comments column. Of course, I will also be very happy if I can help you, thank you and hopefully useful.
